A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to children at a summer program in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and one adult fell ill at the facility in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the court.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he ran.
The man played a "treat game" with the children, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to eat sweets "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and children had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated objects including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant proceeded to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She said the man then played the "sweet game" in a room of five minors.
